I have been taking Karie’s Boot Camp classes for over seven years now.  I signed up because, as a 50-something woman, I had become far more sedentary and less fit over the years.  I originally signed up for her Boot Camp class twice a week.  It was very challenging initially, but Karie’s constant support and excellent instruction kept me going.  I began to feel much better both physically and psychologically …so decided to increase the classes to four days a week.  I also added a Pilates class that she was teaching at the time, and I even tried Zumba when she starting teaching it, though I have never been comfortable with dance of any kind.   From my past experiences, any class with Karie as instructor is a worthwhile investment of time and money!  At one point in a Boot Camp class I described myself as “All Karie All the Time”, which has subsequently been adopted as the class motto.

Now at age 58, I am in the best shape of my life.  I have lost twenty pounds; have much greater cardio stamina, muscle strength/definition, and energy.  I enjoy a greatly enhanced quality of life, both physically and psychologically.  My family has also benefited and been inspired by my experience.  My daughter has gone to Karie’s classes when home from college.  My husband was introduced to Karie when he attended her Pilates class with me.  Frustrated that his work schedule doesn’t allow him to attend her Boot Camp classes regularly, he works with her individually in a personal training capacity (something I hope to add to my routine as well).  The changes in his fitness have been remarkable in the short time he has worked with her.  Inspired, our 17-year –old son, who is a very athletic competitive swimmer, is looking for an opportunity to work with her as well.

The source of Karie’s effectiveness is her unique combination of professional and personal attributes.  She is professionally qualified and highly experienced as a fitness instructor. She constantly brings new research and information to class, adapting and changing the program on a regular basis.  She also adapts exercises and routines to the specific needs of people in the class, and is vigilant about form corrections and injury prevention.  To this professionalism she brings a positive, energetic personality – absolutely perfect for her role.  Her generous and engaging style creates a fun social atmosphere and sense of camaraderie, which also contributes to the high level of commitment and motivation that her students develop (hence the many students that become “regulars” like myself).  She is attentive to every individual, supporting and encouraging our goals and challenges. I have always felt (and appreciated) that Karie is genuinely interested and committed not only to my goals, but also to me as a person and I look forward to working with her for at least the next 30 years!

I began my journey with Karie in late 2008 when I was at my heaviest. It started with her Pilates class once a week to build my core strength. To now, where I do her boot camp twice a week, as well as strength training with her four days a week. Three years later and more than 40lbs lighter, I’m the healthiest and fittest I’ve ever been! With her help and encouragement, I’m now a personal trainer instilling the same values and principles she has taught me for the last three years. So thank you Karie, for challenging me, inspiring me, and turning me into a better version of me! I am forever indebted to you!
